My husband and I settled in Maryland more than 30 years ago, and early on began vacationing in Rehoboth and Bethany with our children. Our trips to the beach became a favorite tradition and still are today. While we’ve had the good fortune to visit some of the best beaches in North America and the Caribbean, nothing has ever replaced the comfort and sense of belonging we get when vacationing close to home at the Delaware Shore!

In the summer of 2009, we made our dream of owning a second home come true when we purchased The Sand Trap in South Bethany.  We were drawn in by its brightness, location ‑‑ one away from the beach, and its size, which lent itself to large gatherings with family and friends . The South Bethany area also offered a good compromise between the seclusion of the private beaches of North Bethany and the crowds downtown.

We always planned to rent the house to help cover expenses, and after a few successful and enjoyable years of welcoming guests, we purchased a second home in 2014. . This time, we wanted a home that would accommodate the same number of people, but also offer activities for those who enjoy the beach and have access to tennis courts, swimming pools, fitness center, sauna, hot tub, and walking trails. The Sand Dune in Sea Colony met all of those criteria and more! It has become a favorite with guests in the winter season who can take advantage of its indoor facilities.

My husband and I regularly visit both homes, and vacation there with our family and friends every summer. Twice a year, my girlfriends join me and give feedback on the quality of beds, décor that might need updating, and anything else that might need special attention.

Over the past 10 years I have built close relationships with my team of property managers and staff at Sandcastle Realty, from our handyman to the cleaning team, appliance repair people, decorator, painter and many others, who have helped keep this home in top condition. I am very grateful to all of them and to the more than 275 guests who have chosen to come here to celebrate graduations, anniversaries, retirements, engagements, or simply enjoy sharing time with their loved ones.
